Research In Motion has acquired some of the assets of DataViz, a 26-year-old company that has focused on bringing Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) products, like Office, to several mobile platforms, including BlackBerry. In a short statement today, RIM (NSDQ: RIMM) confirmed the purchase and that it has hired the majority of its employees. Going forward, the intent is to “to focus on supporting the BlackBerry platform.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but RIM said the transaction was not material to RIM’s financial results.
