Riding around on Zero Motorcycle’s electric Zero S was one of the most fun we’ve had during the filming of our Green Overdrive show (where if it’s green we drive it) — see our test drive below. And it looks like the Zero crew has just raised another round of funding of $1.5 million, according to an SEC filing, which will likely help the company ramp up its sales, and distribution, and which will help more people enjoy the fun of the Zero test drive.
Founded in 2006 (it was named Electricross at the time) Zero Motorcycles raised $5 million in 2008, and another $8 million earlier this year.
Here’s some quick and dirty stats on Zero Motorcycle’s electric motorcycles:
- Price: It’ll cost you $10,000 or $9,000 with subsidies.
- Top speed: About 70 miles per hour.
- Range: Up to 50 miles.
- Recharge time: 4 hours.
- Battery: lithium ion.
- Transmission: One speed.
