There’s renewed buzz about what Google’s grand social media scheme might be. Some are calling it “Google Me,” and looking for a launch soon. Om has opined that Google’s DNA lacks a social gene, and the rise of the social web could challenge its core business. Where could Google gain a competitive foothold? Google should avoid the obvious attack on the Outlook-Windows Messenger enterprise because it has to serve consumers, and social data to feed search won’t come only from within corporate walls. What else, besides communicating, does everyone do? How about shopping?
