The “shadowy” world of selling and using online audience data has been in discussion a lot lately, and investors have been taking notice. This morning, eXelate, which operates an open marketplace for audience targeting data, said it closed a $15 million second round of funding to help expand its technology even further.
Since the Israel-based eXelate raised its first $4 million round three years ago, the company has captured a lot of attention from publishers as well as advertisers for its data gathering.
Earlier this year, eXelate struck a deal with Nielsen to provide data covering 150 million internet users. That information was to be combined with Nielsen
