Reuters Execs Get Expanded Digital Media Roles

Thomson Reuters' New York HQ

Reuters (NYSE: TRI) has promoted three media execs this week to reflect the constant changes and challenges for news organizations in the digital space, according to a memo obtained by paidContent. Keith McAllister, the former CEO of syndicated online content company Mochila who was hired just over a year ago as global online editor, has been named Editor and Publisher, Consumer Media. His new role will consolidate management of Reuters’ editorial and business teams under him.

The two other big promotions are on the news wire side, which crosses the digital end of the business. Alisa Bowen, who has worked on overhauling Reuters’ consumer business for the past three years and has been one of the point people on the Reuters.com redesign and the launch of iPhone and iPad apps, has been promoted to global head of business operations.

Among the other personnel shifts at Reuters, Christoph Pleitgen, has been appointed to the role of Head of Client Operations from managing director of Reuters news agency. Pleitgen had worked on this past winter’s ad-sharing deal with the streaming video aggregator News Distribution Network.
