Green Overdrive: We Ride Brammo's Electric Motorcycle!

On this week’s episode of GigaOM TV’s Green Overdrive video show (where if it’s green, we’ll drive it) I take Brammo’s Enertia electric motorcycle out for a spin. Here are the basics on the Enertia for commuters looking for a greener ride:

  • It costs roughly $8,000 (with subsidies it can get down to $6,000)
  • It has a max speed of 60 to 70 miles per hour
  • The average travel range is about 40 miles
  • A fully depleted battery will take 4 hours to charge

But the most important bit is that the Enertia is super fun to ride. I did my best “Top Gun” impression (though I’m no Maverick) as I rode it around the former base in Alameda and past the (fake) jet. Another thing to know about the Enertia is that it’s almost like riding an automatic scooter, just turn it on and throttle. Even when you’re not riding all that fast, it actually feels really fast on the road — 30 miles per hour felt like 60. Enjoy!
