iVillage Taps Barnes & Noble’s Skagerlind To Chart Strategy

Ex-Nickelodeon exec Mike Skagerlind is leaving his post as VP, head of content at Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) to take the job of SVP/GM of iVillage. Skagerlind, who has been at B&N since September ’07, will report to Jodi Kahn, EVP of iVillage, when he officially starts next month. He’ll be replacing Rebecca Miskin, who returned to the UK to manage iVillage’s operations there in March.

At B&N, Skagerlind helped manage the development and integration of original book-centric content for BN.com. He also oversaw the Barnes & Noble Review, an online literary and arts journal, and the Barnes & Noble Studio, a video site centered around book news. Before that, he briefly served as GM of Sparknotes.com, an ad-supported online study resource for high school and college students.

But Skagerlind is probably best known for the dozen years he spent at Nickelodeon. His purview covered Nickelodeon UK, Nickelodeon Australia and Nickelodeon Online, where he worked on the network
