Inform Technologies, which provides semantic search technology to several top media websites, including those of CNN, NBC and CBS Interactive (NYSE: CBS), has raised $4 million in its latest round of funding. The company’s technology lets website publishers automatically categorize their content and add relevant related links to their pages. The company also runs Inform.com, where it aggregates the latest news related to general topics.
The round comes as Inform has made two major hires in recent months; in May, it added former Joost CEO Matt Zelesko as CTO and it has also added Internet Broadcasting SVP Tony Dunaif as its chief marketing officer.
The new cash — which comes from existing backers Spark Capital, the Stephens Group and Oklahoma Publishing Company — brings five-year-old Inform’s total funding to more than $30 million. More details in the release.
