In a December interview with GQ, Simon Cowell and Sir Philip Green lamented that the likes of MTV/Harmonix and Activision (NSDQ: ATVI) Blizzard had beaten them to popularising music video games.
But now they – or, rather Fremantle, which owns the international commercialisation rights for their X Factor show – is catching up. FremantleMedia Enterprises has engaged Austrian entertainment firm Koch Media’s games studio Deep Silver to make a console game based on the show.
Deep Silver says the game will be out on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii in Q4 – ie. in time for Christmas shopping and the festive period which has also become the big final showdown for the series’ finale.
