While Betty White’s Internet-mandated hosting of Saturday Night Live last Saturday proved to be the show’s highest-rated episode since the 2008 presidential campaign, it also performed great on Hulu.
Hulu doesn’t give out numbers on how its content performs, but according to an emailed release five videos from last Saturday’s show — the monologue, Scared Straight, SNL Promo: Betty White, Lawrence Welk Cold Open, and NPR — were among the Top 20 videos watched from May 3-9.
In addition, the full episode (minus content not cleared for online distribution), was the most-watched show of the week. That accomplishment is impressive when you consider that all of this content, with the exception of the promo spots, only came online on Sunday, May 9, meaning that it had roughly 24 hours to shoot up the charts.
Last week’s Digital Short was among the content not cleared for distribution, most likely due to the fact that its use of Golden Girls theme song Thank You For Being A Friend. Mediaite has a bootleg available, but I’m still disappointed. You woulda thought they’d have figured this out by now.
