Playboy Hires Sony Pictures’ Pachler As CFO

Playboy Shadow

Six months after CFO Linda Havard stepped down, Playboy Enterprises (NYSE: PLA) has finally found a permanent replacement in long-time Sony (NYSE: SNE) Pictures Entertainment executive Christoph Pachler. There was speculation when Havard resigned that a deal to sell the troubled firm was close — but sale chatter has since faded off — and, in a February call with investors, CEO Scott Flanders said he “wasn’t brought in for the specific purpose of making a sale” but rather “to increase shareholder value.”

In a statement, Flanders says Pachler’s “responsibilities will extend well beyond those of a traditional CFO” and calls attention to his “background in restructuring, negotiating and executing deals.”

Pachler had been at Sony Pictures Entertainment for 13 years, most recently as SVP of strategy and operations. He will get a base salary of $415,000, according to a filing Playboy made this morning with the SEC.
