OK’s Burgess Signs On As THR’s Latest Publisher

THR April2010

Lori Burgess, whose tenure at OK Magazine became a Gawker soap opera, is succeeding Eric Mika as publisher of The Hollywood Reporter. Mika left last month, soon after Richard Beckman took over as CEO of new parent e5 Global Media in the latest round of that magazine’s own sudser. Burgess joined OK as publisher in October 2008; before that, she was SVP and publishing director at Niche Media during the chain’s expansion. She’s held numerous other magazine posts, including publisher of Elle, Mademoiselle and Seventeeen but none of the titles listed in THR‘s announcement are trade titles. That fits in with the notion that Beckman is headed away from the typical entertainment trade mag formula.
