The Webby Awards Announce Video Nominees

The nominees for the 14th Annual Webby Awards were announced today, highlighting some of the best of the best on the web (including NewTeeVee parent site GigaOM, which was nominated in the “Blog – Business” category — way to go, guys!). This year, leads all sites with 15 nominations, followed by the BBC with nine. On the video side of things, we saw a lot of the usual suspects rake in nominations, with Next New Networks getting six nominations, and Crackle, CollegeHumor and Funny or Die each scoring five video nods.

    Just to share the love a bit — we have to point out that The Onion got six Webby nominations as well — if you only look at the Online Video Category, The Onion and Next New Networks both had the most nominations with six each.

    Also, Next New Networks can’t do anything without the amazing producers and creators that actually make the shows, so just for the record, the lion’s share of credit for Auto-Tune the News has to go to creators The Gregory Brothers and the Barely Political team; other hosts and producers include Bobby Miller (The Reel Good Show), Erik Beck (Backyard FX, The Reel Good Show), Corinne Leigh (ThreadBanger), Rob Czar (ThreadBanger, $99 Music Videos), and Jack Ferry and Melissa Schneider ($99 Music Videos). Should we win, they’ll be the ones getting up and taking the awards — and we’ll be happy to be their partners and their home on the web.
