Meredith (NYSE: MDP) is reorganizing its National Media Group to streamline its digital content creation and sales and marketing efforts and the publisher will cut an unspecified number of jobs by the time the task is completed, according to a
memo obtained by paidContent statement issued by the company. It will also do some hiring, meaning that the net loss of jobs will be at 20 amid the realignment, according to the Des Moines Register, which first reported the changes. For the past year, the Des Moines-based Meredith has worked to broaden its digital offerings to advertisers, acting as a marketing agency in addition to being a publisher. That changed has provoked some concerns on the part of the ad agencies who traditionally act as the middle man between marketer and publisher.
