This vision for the IPC/Hearst women’s monthly pulls together two existing assets – the basic pages of the print edition and corresponding video from its MCTV web channel – for a product that closely mimics the paper experience on the screen.

But publishers will need to balance the familiarity of the paper experience with enough compelling tablet additions, lest readers not prefer curling up with the same ‘ol dead-tree edition.

Designer Ceros, which made the concept, says it’s “simple, practical and not the work of distant fantasy.” This “phase one” is due this spring/summer, with a “phase two” (scratch ‘n sniff perfume samples?) coming autumn/winter.
