Many of the people I know working in the print world took an awful lot of comfort this week in this video hosted by Britain’s Penguin Books, which takes a palindromic look at the typical teenager and how they engage with media. (Though I gotta say — just because you care about reading does not mean you can’t care a little bit about what Lady Gaga is wearing.)
Watching it made me wonder how many other videos I could find out there with a palindrome twist, and the answer proved to be “quite a few.” The first thing that popped up was Weird Al Yankovic’s Bob, a clear homage to Mr. Bob Dylan:
Then, thanks to Future Shorts on YouTube, I discovered the Brazilian short film Palindrome, which shows us the ruin of a man’s life from a reverse angle.
And this short and simple look at modern life is an interesting palindromic experience thanks to the music, which twists around just as the footage does.
Clearly, there’s a lot of mileage to be gained from the concept — maybe we’re looking at the framework for the next OK Go video?
