I’m beginning to wonder when we’ll finally figure out how to evolve IT operations from a client-server world into a webscale world. Today alone, I read posts bemoaning the analysis of webscale log files, debating the benefits of NoSQL vs. OLTP systems, and questioning Dell’s stance of mandating expensive hard drives in new servers. The problems have been mounting for years, and solutions are in the works, but it looks like vendors and consumers both have a lot of work to do to manage their transitions.
