Gannett-backed Cozi, which offers a set of online organization tools geared for families, has raised another $5 million in funding, according to an SEC filing. On Cozi, families can set up group calendars, shopping lists, and blogs. The ad-supported site claims 2.4 million registered users, up from 600,000 two years ago. Cozi has managed to avoid the troubles that plagued rival Sampa, which shut down last summer, saying that it didn’t have enough money to pay its bills.
The startup isn’t offering details on the funding, saying it is “making no public comments about financing at this time.” Cozi last raised cash in June 2008, when Gannett (NYSE: GCI) bought a minority stake in the firm and said it would push the Cozi brand across its print and web properties. Cozi had also raised $4 million in an angel round three years ago.
