LikeMe, an online service that provides personalized recommendations, has raised $3.1 million in funding, according to an SEC filing. On LikeMe, users enter basic information about themselves and can then rate various establishments and events; when users search for a recommended thing to do, LikeMe returns a list of results based on the things that people who are most similar to them also like.
The startup has deep ties with Village Voice Media. Both companies share content and LikeMe is also part of Village Voice’s online ad network. And, indeed, the filing lists both Village Voice president Scott Tobias and Village Voice director of new media Bill Jensen as LikeMe directors. (In the past, however, Village Voice has denied reports that it had purchased a controlling interest in LikeMe).
We reached out to LikeMe earlier today for details on the funding but have not heard back.
