Broadband Content Bits: Sky/IPC, Wikileaks Returns, Eurosport/Virgin, Digital Radio


Sky Songs/IPC: The broadcaster will promote its new music download service through IPC Media’s listings magazines. TV & Satellite Week, TVTimes, What’s on TV, TV Easy and Soaplife will each offer 10 free downloads of songs in consecutive weeks. Normally the service costs £6.49 ($10.30)-per-month for 10 downloads or a single album. (Via Brand Republic.)

Eurosport/Virgin: Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED) is ramping up its HD channels, beginning with a new HD simulcast of the Eurosport channel. (Via Release.)

Digital Radio Figures: Quarterly numbers from radio industry body Rajar show that listening to the radio on digital platforms is up by 14 percent over last year, but only 2.1 percent of people listen on the Internet. Around 6.7 million people listen to radio over a mobile phone, an increase of around seven percent. (Via Release.)
