— Yandex up: Russia’s largest search portal, reported in its 2009 preliminary results that revenues were up to 8.7 billion rubles (£180 billion), a 14 percent increase on the year before. Overall, internet advertising for the first nine months of 2009 grew by three percent while the wider ad market contracted by 30 percent, according to the AKAR (the Russian equivalent of the IAB). About 85 percent of Yandex’s revenue comes from contextual advertising.
