The Red Cross texting campaign for Haitian relief seems to gain momentum by the hour. Reports early this morning had the campaign generating $2 million, USA Today has reported that the organization has raised $3 million, and more recent reports indicate coffers are now at $4 million. The success shines a spotlight on what had been a quietly growing space over the last 18 months or so, and it illustrates the fact that people will give more money when it’s easy to do so. That’s good news not just for Haitians who’ve been so affected by the catastrophe but for all sorts of worthy causes that will leverage the channel in the future.
