Reframe It Raises $2.2 Million For Web Commenting System

Reframeit

Reframe It, which offers a web commenting system mostly used by groups to talk internally about the content of websites, has raised a “multi-million” dollar round of funding. The startup isn’t saying how much exactly it raised, although an SEC filing shows that the company has raised $2.2 million so far of a $3.36 million round.

Reframe It’s system lets users comment on the text of any website. The comments show up in a “virtual margin” and can be seen by others with the tool installed. Reframe It pitches its product for enterprises and other small groups. That’s a contrast to Google (NSDQ: GOOG), which launched a commenting system of its own earlier this fall but has broader aspirations since comments are visible to anyone with the Google toolbar installed.

The funding round was led by the Sierra Angels and Sacramento Angels. Several individual investors also participated. Here’s the release.
