In October, online English language learning startup EnglishCentral raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Google (NSDQ: GOOG) VC arm Google Ventures and Atlas Venture. An SEC filing out today sheds additional light on the company’s financing, showing that the startup has in fact raised $3.477 million.
The document lists Atlas partner Alex Bichara and Google Ventures managing partner Rich Miner as directors. It’s unclear if Atlas and Google have put additional cash into the startup since the October announcement; we reached out to EnglishCentral earlier but have not heard back yet.
The startup lets users listen to popular video clips (like a speech by the president) and then repeat the words into a microphone. For now, the service appears to be free.
