Live tweets and news are now showing up on Google, if our recent search for “Iranian Cyber Army” is any indication. The tweets are the likely fruition of the October deal Twitter signed with Google and a response to Microsoft’s Bing becoming more of a “real-time” search engine. They also seem to show up only on newsy terms, as our searches for “Verizon” and even “rimm earnings,” didn’t generate any real-time results. Google appears to alternate between tweets and news in a box in the upper half of its search results, which is cool, but also a jarring reminder of how the real-time web speeds up the way we view the world. As Om put it, “Google just got noisier.”
