Palm Press: Pre Top Twitter Trend; Palm Event at CES; Verizon Training on webOS

It is Thursday and that means it’s time for another Palm Press. Palm Press is our weekly look at the world of Palm. Pre owners are all atwitter with news that the Palm Pre was one of the top trends on Twitter for 2009. The Pre hit the technology category in the number 6 spot, showing how socially connected Pre owners (and prospective owners) must be.

The big Consumer Electronic Show (CES) is drawing near and those of us attending are wondering what announcement Palm will be making this year. Last year’s CES was the venue for the big Palm Pre launch, and the company has already extended invites for a big event at the next show. Could it be the next generation Pre? The Verizon deal netting that carrier the Pre and/or Pixi? Or some other big product? We’ll be there to see what they have up their sleeve.

One part of that big upcoming event is surely the Verizon deal, as indicated. Word has leaked that Verizon employees are already receiving webOS training to enable proper support of the platform on the network. That sounds pretty definite, although it’s not been a big secret. Verizon and Palm have been dancing around a Verizon Pre for months.
