Washington Post’s Avenue100 Buys Online Job Site GetTheJob.com

Washington Post-owned digital marketing company Avenue100 has bought up career site GetTheJob.com. GetTheJob aggregates thousands of listings directly from corporate job sites; advertisers pay to get their job openings on top of GetTheJob’s results pages. The site had about 25,000 unique visitors last month, according to Compete numbers. Quantcast puts traffic slightly below that figure.

GetTheJob is Avenue100’s first foray into the job listings business. Other sites the firm owns are in the education space and include CourseAdvisor.com, which it purchased two years ago, as well as EducationGrant.com and OnlineDegreeFinder.com. In a statement, the company said that visitors to those properties “wanted direct access to more career-oriented resources.”

It’s somewhat of an odd time to get into the job business, considering the record unemployment numbers, although Avenue100 says that due to the lack of jobs “jobseekers are open to exploring new career paths and corporate recruiters need to sort through a glut of resumes to make a strategic match for available opportunities.”

No financial terms were disclosed. More in the release.
