Purchasing apps in the Android Market has always required a credit card — that is, until now. T-Mobile customers in the U.S. are getting an update to the Android Market app that enables charging apps to the customer’s phone account. The update is being rolled out in phases as is typical for T-Mobile.
The update is invisible to the user, but customers can check the Android Market app in the “Manage Applications” setting. Any version over 1660 and you can now charge apps to your T-Mobile account. Nice and easy. Note that apps in non-U.S. currencies will still require a credit card for purchase. I guess T-Mobile doesn’t want to enter the currency conversion business.
