It looks like OLED won’t be technology to reverse Kodak’s sagging fortunes.  Kodak is selling its OLED business to LG (and putting to bed some lawsuits).  While it’s a short-term shot in the arm for Kodak, the deal illustrates the difficulty display makers are having cost-effectively scaling the technology to consumer-friendly screen sizes. According to Laura G. Quatela, Kodak’s chief intellectual property officer, “Realizing the full value of this business would have required significant investment.” It’s an investment Kodak is ill-suited to provide given its present circumstances.
