The week marches on and today being Saturday means it is time to recap the recent happenings in the world of Windows Mobile. HP has been quiet on the Windows Mobile front for some time, but the iPAQ is back. The HP iPAQ Glisten is coming to AT&T in the U. S. and has a AMOLED screen. The Glisten looks a lot like a BlackBerry, especially the keyboard. It will cost $179.99 with a 2-year contract on AT&T and runs WinMo 6.5.

Samsung is another WinMo handset maker that has put its own face on the UI. The Omnia II is a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone that looks nothing like other Windows phones due to the TouchWiz interface. Samsung has put its own interface to differentiate the Omnia from the pack and early reviews are generally positive. The Omnia II uses the Swype input technology, which is an alternative input method that has gotten good press. The Omnia II is available from Verizon Wireless for $200 with a 2-year contract.

Google Maps for Mobile has been updated to version 3.3 for Windows phones. The new version brings the ability to sync favorites across mobiles and PCs, so any places you star in Google Maps will now show the stars everywhere.
