CBS Interactive (NYSE: CBS) announced on Wednesday that Rob Gelick will be heading the company’s mobile division. We caught up with him to get an idea of what the fast-paced job entails, which spans a number of CBS properties, including CBS.com, CBSSports.com, GameSpot, and TV.com, as well as brands, like CW, Chow and CNet.
Gelick said the mobile team is comprised of about 40 people that do everything from user-experience designers to to program the FLO TV channel, and develop new product features. There’s also a team dedicated to mobile advertising and sales support. He said the division has moved beyond the experimental phase — in some respects — and currently makes a profit for the company.
