Greg Ricca is resigning his post as president and CEO of Discovery Networks International and will will exit the company he joined two years ago. In his place, Discovery Communications (NSDQ: DISCA) COO Mark Hollinger (pictured, left) has been named to succeed Ricca, who will remain briefly to assist with the transition. Ricca was MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA) International’s COO from 1996 to 2003 and had his own consulting firm before he came to Discovery. A former entertainment lawyer, Hollinger has been with Discovery for 18 years and has held a number of posts, mostly in the legal and international areas. He started as VP and deputy general counsel in 1991. Then, in 1994, he was tapped as acting GM for Discovery Channel Asia and was based in Hong Kong. A year later, he was brought back from Asia and was handed the role of VP, international business development. Before serving as COO, president, Global Businesses and Operations, and general counsel.
