A leaked Motorola road map showed a Sholes tablet and sure enough, a Sholes tablet has been peeped. That’s the story over at mobile-01 (translated), anyway. Aside from a few partial photos of the alleged keyboard-less Droid, there’s not much new that wasn’t in the road map leak:
- 854 x 480, 3.7″ capacitive touchscreen
- 550 MHz TI OMAP 3430 CPU like the Droid, although the processor is capable of 800 MHz clock speeds
- 8-megapixel camera with Xenon flash
- HDMI port, 720p playback and DLNA support
- Android 2.0
Although there’s no slide-out QWERTY, these shots make the handset a little chunkier than I would have expected. If there’s no loss of weight or thickness, I think I’d rather have the hardware keyboard. Boy Genius Report also adds that this handset will tout a GSM/HSPA radio, and not CDMA/EVDO like the Droid, so don’t expect this paternal twin to appear at Verizon. According the road map — which has been correct so far — this device is due out in the first quarter of 2010.
