The appearance of apps for the Palm Pre has slowed down, to the point that Kevin put his Pre on notice. An app just updated today deserves some attention as it does something that rocks my world. I am a big customer of eReader, I have hundreds of books in my library. The biggest void on my own Palm Pre has been the lack of a Pre version of eReader to let me read e-books on the phone. That has changed due to pReader, a homebrew app.
The pReader program is fairly bare bones compared to other readers, but it has the ability to handle DRM-infested eReader e-books. I have tried two books I have purchased and they work fine on pReader. I’m not sure how long the eReader folks will let the developer get away with this, but right now I’m a happy camper reading books on my Pre. The program is free and is worth every penny. It’s not pretty, and it can be a bit slow to use, but it handles my books.
Thanks to bluespapa for pointing this out!
