Research In Motion launches Media Sync 3.0: This is a desktop application that allows users to sync photos and music between their BlackBerry’s and their desktop. When the phone is connected to the PC, users are alerted to new pictures that can be imported to the PC from the device. Photos can also be transferred from the PC to the device. The media sync also allows the phone to grab music from iTunes or Windows Media player.

fring unveils mobile video calls: London-based fring, an application that aggregates social networks, instant-messengers and other services, says it is now also enabling users to make mobile video calls with other fringsters as well as with other Skype contacts over Wi-Fi or 3G. The service works on the iPhone, Nokia (NYSE: NOK), and Android phones.

Shazam RED Special Edition: London-based Shazam said it is launching a new app on the iPhone called RED, which donates money to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The app has the same music discovery features as the original Shazam app, but this version will be red. Shazam said 20 percent of the $5 download price will go to charity.

Sidebar launches Android app: Santa Monica, Calif.-based Sidebar has launched a free mobile app that gives recommendations for content, including video, games, apps, music based on a users’ preferences. The beta release is now available on Android.
