Sabina Solomon, Head Of The Agency Behind Indian Readership Survey, Quits

Sabina Solomon, general manager at Media Research Users Council, the agency that carries out the important Indian Readership Survey, has resigned. Soloman confirmed the development. “Yes, I have resigned, but I will be here till January to ensure a smooth transition,” she said.

Solomon joined MRUC in October 2005, prior to which she worked variously at Ogilvy & Mather, DIREM and Carat Media. She has also worked as a consultant at The Indian Express.

Solomon leaves MRUC at a time when talks are on about merging the IRS with rival competing survey, the National Readership Survey, or NRS. Since 2006, however, NRS hasn’t come out with a survey and Solomon presided over what became, by default, the definitive readership survey in the country. Solomon did not say what she was going to do next, but said she wanted to move to the “sales side” of the media business.

Solomon said the Round 2 data was delayed this time as MRUC was using a new software and the agency had to spend a lot of time testing it.
