A trio of iPhone app-makers have secured mobile rights to publish more than 70 Marvel (NYSE: MVL) comics. Titles include Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men series, Ed Brubaker’s Captain America, and other two X-Men series. The comics will be available for $2 each through In App Purchase with Comixology and Panelfly’s free apps, and 99-cents individually with iVerse. The apps are only available to U.S. users.
Marvel launched two of its own streaming video apps — including the $8.99 Spider-Woman Agent of S.W.O.R.D. TV series — this summer (via Macworld). Last October, Marvel Entertainment International started working with animation studio Campfire A/S to roll out a mobile content catalog in Europe. Release.
