Mobile and social media marketing agency Adeye has acquired Storyz, the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Ventures-backed content company that lets users create and share “stories” using pictures, text messages and other content on their mobile phones. Storyz hired Bandwidth Capital as an advisor for the sale, though financial terms were not disclosed. Storyz will now function as a white-label mobile-social app that Adeye clients like *Clear Channel*, *Nokia* and Pepsi can customize to their liking.
Storyz launched a beta version of its platform, which includes support for banner ads, as well as sponsored contests, in February. Storyz was first founded in 2005 by Dave Bolliger, as an offshoot of TileFile.com, which let people create, share and store multimedia files as a single document. It is not clear whether Bolliger will join the Adeye team. A spokesperson said that Storyz COO JT Klepp will stay on in an “advisory capacity.”
Storyz’ business development and sales teams will remain at its office in Australia; R&D operations will move to Adeye’s headquarters in London, with “a handful” of the existing tech staff making the move. Privately-held Adeye also has an office in Sydney; it plans to set up shop in New York and San Francisco over the coming months.
