The Party Line — Phone Buzz of the Day

Here are some of today’s phone conversations I enjoyed reading or viewing on the web, along with some brief thoughts:

Mattel-FootballSoccer moms and smartphones (RWW) — You know smartphones are catching on in the mainstream when we have quantitative reports on how moms use their iPhones. ;) Seriously, this report was well worth the read because it provides a perspective that I hadn’t though about. I should have though — just like the majority of moms in the survey, I’ve seen Barb hand off her iPhone to our daughter during a long ride or shopping trip. The phone has become a help for moms to keep kids busy. When I was growing up, we were kept busy with a book of blank pages and broken crayon. Well, if we were good and had the batteries for it, we could play our Mattel Football game until the sound drove our parents crazy.

An HD2 twin with Android (The Unlockr) — Everyone’s understandably getting excited about the HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile. Would the same basic device with Android ignite people’s passion? That’s what the rumor is — the HTC Passion appears to be a Verizon CDMA phone running Android 2.0 on a 1.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon.

tmobile_logo“Even More” plans from T-Mobile (PhoneScoop) — Even more options arrive if you want flexibility with T-Mo. The “Even More” is basically for voice users while the “Even More Plus” plans offer unlimited voice for $50, get unlimited texting too for $60, and unlimited voice, texting and web for $80. That’s not shabby and beats the $99 unlimited plan I had with Sprint. I later dropped that to a 450 minute voice plan with unlimited texting and web for $69. The one difference and benefit with T-Mo is that you can get these plans without a contract with the “Plus” version.
