Here are some of today’s phone conversations I enjoyed reading or viewing on the web, along with some brief thoughts:
Motorola outs Droid specs early (BGR) — Near as I can tell, this hotly anticipated phone runs a similar — if not the same — CPU as the Palm Pre, but at 550MHz, not 600 like the Pre. All other specs are laid bare as well, so if there’s any you were unsure of, now’s the time to get caught up. Some tidbits new or confirmed to me: 1400 mAh battery, Visual Voicemail capable, the Android 2.0 unified contact list (Google, Exchange, Facebook), HTML5 and Flash compatible in 2010, and 3.5mm headset jack.
In case you weren’t sure, Zune is coming to WinMo (Engadget) — This topic has pretty much been a done deal for a while, but since the confirmation came from Steve Ballmer on the live Engadget Show, it’s worth a mention. If you’re not watching that show, you should be.
More 4G cities in 2009 (Clearwire) — The clock is ticking and many are waiting to see if CLEAR is making good on their rollout plans for 2009. Today, they announced WiMAX is coming soon to Philadelphia (it’s already here in spots), Chicago and Seattle. Following those three in November is Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina; Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas. Honolulu and Maui, Hawaii get a 4G holiday gift in December.
