Clearwire’s push to put 4G in 25-plus markets by the end of 2009 continues with another batch of launches. Clearwire (NSDQ: CLWR), Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA) and Sprint (NYSE: S) each will launch commercial 4G service in Philadelphia (next several weeks), Chicago (November) and Seattle/Tacoma (early December) before the end of the year. Philadelphia is Comcast’s hometown; the cable operator has a major presence in the other markets. Release.
Also in November, Clearwire and Sprint will start selling service in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina; Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio, with Hawaii (Honolulu, Maui) to follow in early December. Each company sells the service under its own brand: CLEAR, Comcast High-Speed 2Go (bundled with fast broadband) and Sprint 4G. Release.
