– BBC Freeview HD: The good news from the Beeb is that Freeview is being upgraded to allow HD viewing. But the bad news is that as a result the BBC will no longer be able to provide its News Multiscreen red button service on Freeview and it will bite the dust on 27 October, though it lives on for Sky and Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED) TV customers. More from the BBC Editors’ Blog.
— Channel 4-YouTube: Having cemented an agreement to put long-form on YouTube in a branded player, Channel 4 is going to serve users age-specific targeted ads relevant to its content when the service launches early next year. Via NMA.
— Sky 3DTV: Following on from its (very) limited 3DTV trials this year, the broadcaster is launching 3D advertising to Sky+ HD boxes — but as with all 3D content, you’ll need a 3D TV and glasses to see it. From Mediaweek.
— MSN VOD: Following its renewed push into comedy VOD content in the UK, MSN has commissioned an original comedy series titled Kangaroo Court, produced by the Collective marketing agency. From Revolution.
— We7: Another pre-release music streaming for We7: this time users can hear the new single from Universal Music artist Rihanna before it comes out via We7.com and via a We7 wigdet hosted by radio stations’ sites including Galaxy, Capital and Kiss.
