Yahoo Exec Scott Dietzen Takes A Break

Scott Dietzen

Some more executive shuffling at Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO). Scott Dietzen, who at one time led all of the company’s communications and communities properties, is taking an open-ended sabbatical to “pursue other opportunities,” we have confirmed with the company. Dietzen took over as SVP of communications and community properties in June 2008 when SVP Brad Garlinghouse left. In April, Yahoo hired Adobe Systems (NSDQ: ADBE) veteran Bryan Lamkin to oversee those groups, and Dietzen was appointed a VP. There was some speculation then that he might leave the company.

In a statement, a Yahoo spokeswoman says Dietzen started his sabbatical “a couple of weeks ago.” TechCrunch — which first reported the news — points to a recent interview in which Dietzen says he’s taking a break to lead a more “balanced life.” Dietzen was president and CTO of Zimbra, until that company was acquired by Yahoo. Zimbra Founder Satish Dharmaraj left Yahoo in January.
