The Party Line — Phone Buzz of the Day

Here are some of today’s phone conversations I enjoyed reading or viewing on the web, along with some brief thoughts:

close-sliderHang up dramatically with a Palm Pre (PreCentral) — Although I can take calls on my Palm Pre without opening the slider, I generally open it up. It just feels more natural because the phone is longer. I’m not sure if I’m alone in this usage pattern, but there’s a patch to hang up the call simply by closing the slider. I haven’t applied the patch — nor any others — but I’m ready to take the patch plunge for this feature. If it works, I may hit the rest of the list too because there’s a few dozen improvements available.

$99 iPhones sell well, especially in a recession (Apple) — I’m sure that Apple sales were helped by the new iPhone 3GS, but that $99 iPhone 3G didn’t hurt either. Cupertino sold 7.4 million iPhones, which is 43% more than the prior quarter.

Custom WinMo UI makes Sense (pocketnow) — SPB Mobile Shell is great for skinning, but some folks want the HTC Sense UI made for Android on a WinMo handset. Enter Sense Revolution 3.5, which is adds a Sense skin to Mobile Shell 3.5. Most any device should be covered as the Revolution supports VGA, WVGA, QVGA and WQVGA.
