Today in Mobile

CTIA’s IT show kicked off today in San Diego, and FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski got things rolling with a keynote that appeared to get mixed reviews. Genachowski drew applause when he said he wanted to speed up approval for cell sites, but he also restated his desire to keep the Internet open — a plea that apparently wasn’t met with the same ovation. Genachowski hasn’t gotten a lot of public push-back from the carriers yet, but expect tensions between the FCC and network operators to increase as Genachowski pushes his agenda in coming months.
