Here are some of today’s phone conversations I enjoyed reading or viewing on the web, along with some brief thoughts:
Samsung Intrepid world phone arrives on Sunday (Sprint) — With all of the focus on the software side of Windows Mobile 6.5 today, it was easy to miss out on hardware news. Sprint has a new offering in the Intrepid, going for $149.99 when it lands this weekend. Along with a full QWERTY keyboard, the 320 x 240 display is a resistive touchscreen. Although the Intrepid is a CDMA phone with EVDO Rev. A support, it also has a SIM card for GSM service overseas.
Ballmer confirms future Zune ties to Windows Phones (pocketnow) — In case you had any doubts, here’s the quote from a CNET interview: “What is Zune HD? Zune HD is a couple things. Number one, Zune HD is a music player with a nice music service. By the way, the same software will be available on Windows Phones and Windows PCs. You have that today on the PC, you’ll see that in our phone environment as well.”
Is your phone upgradeable to WinMo 6.5? (Microsoft) — Since today is unofficially “Windows Mobile Day,” why not one more useful tidbit? The Windows phone site offers handy upgrade so you can determine if your device can handle Microsoft’s latest and greatest mobile OS. There aren’t many data points yet, but Microsoft says they’ll be updating the page frequently. Let’s hope the carriers check it frequently and offer upgrates as soon as possible for the qualifiers.
