Gaming Round-Up: Ubisoft Buys Nadeo; Popcap Hires In Ireland; Level 3-Metaboli; Lego Rock Band

Ubisoft M&A: The French games publisher has bought Paris-based online games developer Nadeo, which has more than 10 million registered players. The plan is to grow the company’s top game Trackmania and to use its skills on other Ubisoft projects. From Gamesindustry.biz.

Popcap Ireland: Casual games giant Popcap is expanding its Ireland-based mobile games team. The company is hiring a games designer in Dublin to work on original titles and spin-offs of existing games like Bejewelled for “mobile and social platforms”. Casualgaming.biz.

Level 3 Communications: The Nasdaq-listed has been signed up to provide caching and download services by Metaboli in Europe and its North American counterpart GameTap. The two games sites — and their 50 partner sites — offer on-demand and downloadable games. Level 3 has been working with Metaboli since early this year but now starts caching GameTap following its re-launch

Lego Rock Band: David Bowie will appear in pixelated form in the forthcoming Lego Rock Band Game from MTV Games/Warner Bros. Via Guardian.co.uk.
