4iP Funds Phabling, For Memorising Nice Nights Out

Phabling

Channel 4’s financial future may remain uncertain, but its public online investment project 4iP keeps on funding. The latest handout is Phabling, a web and mobile-based app (currently in private beta) that lets people create personalised mementos of their own nights out.

4iP’s digital commissioner Ewan McIntosh writes on the 4iP blog: “Phabling is about capturing snippets of events, which create your own personal guide to the best nights out.”

Facebook fulfils this role for most people, but McIntosh points out the service “brings together those memories instead of seeing them lost in the black hole of status updates on your social networks.”

It’s not just for personal use either: venues and promoters can use Phabling to promote forthcoming club nights or gigs and plug special offers online or on mobile.

A MySpace-based venue dashboard has been tested which is where some of the revenue generation will come from, according to McIntosh. The app is created by Glasgow-based start-up Sauce & Vinegar and 4iP invests an undeclared amount, joined by Nesta’s Starter for 6 initiative.
