Samsung has announced its latest Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Android phone, the Behold II, and said it is slated to hit the U.S. through an exclusivity with T-Mobile USA in time for the holidays.
The Behold II is a sequel to a previous phone, which launched last year and did not use the Android operating system. In fact, it wasn’t a smartphone at all. Surely, this is a test of some kind by Samsung to see if customers like the Android OS, and whether it should update other successful phones in its product line to Android. Typically, smartphone oeprating systems can be easier to update compared to the older feature phone proprietary systems, which provides some incentive. Plus, Android is free. T-Mobile was also likely a big influence. It was also the exclusive provider of the first Behold, and it will have at least four Android devices on sale in time for the holidays.
