England’s Online-Only World Cup Qualifier Will Cost £4.99

How much will it cost to watch England play Ukraine on your laptop this coming Saturday? £4.99. That’s less than the price you’d pay for two pints, if the game was being shown in pubs on TV.

As we reported in September, the World Cup Qualifier will be available online only, after rightsholder Kentaro found itself without a broadcaster following the collapse of Setanta in June.

Digital live sports publisher Perform stepped in with its online PPV solution. Fans will be able to watch the game via a standalone site and Perform’s e-player widget, which is hosted on almost every national newspaper website. The widget has the added advantage of newspapers marketing the match, as Telegraph.co.uk does here.

But if you don’t fancy paying, anyone who signs up for a Bet365 account with £10 credit can watch for free.

Below is Sky News’ take on the story, in which I make a very brief cameo…
